Summary

In rural Jharkhand, India, thirteen-year-old Kiran is gang raped by three men at a family wedding. After Ranjit reports the crime, village leaders demand he drop all charges and marry Kiran to one of her rapists—the traditional solution.

Director Nisha Pahuja spent years filming Ranjit's refusal. The film captures daily life in extreme poverty, while documenting escalating community hostility toward the family and film crew. In a country where rape is reported every twenty minutes and conviction rates are below thirty percent, a father supporting his daughter's quest for justice is virtually unheard of.

An intimate portrait of extraordinary courage that reveals how patriarchal traditions create barriers to justice—and what it costs one family to challenge them.
