Summary

On August 20, 2020, Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny collapsed on a flight from Siberia to Moscow, poisoned with Novichok nerve agent. He survived—barely.

Recovering in Germany, Navalny worked with investigative journalists from Bellingcat and CNN to uncover who tried to kill him and why. Through flight manifests, phone records, and relentless investigation, they traced the assassination attempt to Russian security services and Putin's regime. The film captures history unfolding in real time. Despite knowing he would be arrested, Navalny chose to return to Russia in January 2021—a decision that led to his imprisonment and eventual death in 2024.

A portrait of courage in the face of authoritarianism, filmed as it happened.
